Dra. Sofia de Oliveira Parreiras
Dr. Sofia de Oliveira Parreiras is a tenure-track researcher in nanoscience, surface science and magnetism. Her principal research interests lie at the intersection of surface science and magnetism, with emphasis on the structural, chemical, electronic and magnetic characterization of low dimensional magnetic materials. She is an expert in UHV surface science techniques (STM/STS, AFM/MFM, LEED), photoemission spectroscopies and synchrotron techniques (XAS, XLD, XMCD, XPS). She has contributed to nanoscience research by directing PhD thesis, authoring and coauthoring multiple publications.
She earned a Ph.D. in Physics from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG, Brazil, 2017). After a post doctoral fellowship at CDTN (Brazil, 2017 2019) she joined IMDEA Nanoscience in 2019, initially as a postdoctoral researcher at the Nanoarchitectonics on Surfaces Group. She was awarded a Marie Skłodowska Curie Individual Fellowship (4f Mag project, 2021-2022) , during which she completed a secondment at the BOREAS beamline (ALBA). Currently, she holds a tenure-track researcher position at the magnetism department of IMDEA Nanoscience.
