Short bio:

Alberto Martínez-Cuezva (AMC) obtained a degree in Chemistry (2004, Extraordinary Prize) at the University of Burgos. In 2010 he received the degree of doctor in the same institution (Laudem Qualification, Extraordinary Award) under the supervision of Prof. R. Sanz. During this period he made two stays at the Scripps Research Institute (2007, USA) and MIT (2008, USA). He then joined as a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Prof. Benjamin List (Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2021) at Max-Planck Institute für Kohlenforschung (Germany, 2010-2013), focusing on the development of new catalytic systems, mainly organocatalysts. In 2013 he joined the University of Murcia with a Marie-Curie scholarship (2013-2015), continuing with a Juan de la Cierva contract (2015-2017), working on the assembly and application of mechanized molecules.

In 2019 he obtained a contract from the Ramón y Cajal Program. After two years, he obtained a position of Assistant Professor Doctor, quickly transformed to Contracted Professor Doctor, and later, Full Professor of University (2022). He is co-author of 54 publications (+ 2 book chapter) in international journals of recognized prestige and included in the JCR, highlighting 3 JACS, 9 ACIE, 4 Chem Sci, 1 ACS Catal, 1 Chem Soc Rev, 5 Org Lett. He has participated in 14 projects funded by public bodies, highlighting two as IP. AMC has directed 1 doctoral thesis, 10 master's theses, and is currently directing 2 doctoral theses. Research awards: "VI Lilly Research Award for PhD students" (2009), Finalist "Suschem Awards-Postdoc category" (2014) and "Thieme Chemistry Journal Awardees" (2021).
