Abstract

Nowadays, the progress of material science nanoparticle engineering enables the synthesis of magnetic nanocrystals with customized physical, chemical, and/or biological properties. Many recent works underline the potential of magnetic nanoparticles as active agents for diverse biomedical applications such as magnetic hyperthermia or biosensing, among others. The interest of magnetic nanoparticles in many applications relies on the dynamical magnetization response under AC magnetic fields. In my seminar, I will present some examples to present AC magnetometry as powerful and reliable technique not only for quality control of nanoparticle production but also for exploiting the potential of nanoparticles in Life Sciences. First, the influence of cell internalization on magnetic losses of iron oxide nanoparticles.1 Second, the transduction capacity of bioconjugated magnetic nanoparticles to detect proteins dispersed in biological fluids.2 Third, the transduction capacity of magnetic nanoparticles to probe protein conformational changes.3
