The Institutional Repository of IMDEA Nanociencia is the digital archive that collects the scientific production of the institute, with the aim of preserving and disseminating research results in open access.

The IMDEA Nanociencia Repository was established as operational in 2019. It is an Open Access repository that allows the dissemination of content without restrictions, making it visible worldwide, thus adhering to the Open Science principles initiated in the Declaration of Berlin and the Granada Declaration. The Repository complies with Open Access requirements and is therefore indexed in the OpenDOAR global listing as trusted repository. In its commitment to the dissemination of results, IMDEA Nanociencia offers through the Repository free access without payment or registration barriers to all its content including metadata and files. In addition, it has made available all the metadata to the national and international aggregators Recolecta and OpenAIRE, respectively, for harvesting, which they currently collect and index periodically.

Why to deposit your work

Open access policies for scientific publications and data pursue four fundamental objectives with the purpose of building a fairer system of scientific publications: 1) To avoid a triple expenditure of public money.  2) Recovery and indexing of the so-called "grey" literature (thesis, research data) that represent a public expense and are not exploited enough. 3) Creation of a scientific information infrastructure accessible to the entire community. 4) Achieve greater independence from private providers to access information on publications.

The IMDEA Nanociencia Repository is created with the intention of providing local support to the open access objectives set by funding bodies. The benefits offered by the Repository to the authors are many, among which the preservation over time of digital archives, the rapid distribution and visibility of research results, and a permanent URL to cite your work (papers and data) anywhere.

A long term project

The Repository is physically hosted on the servers of IMDEA Nanociencia and is managed by its staff, with support from information systems technicians. The Repository is a long-term project that aims to gather and preserve the scientific production of the institute IMDEA Nanociencia. Several actions are aimed at keeping the Repository running, including software maintenance, creation of weekly copies, and hardware maintenance. The Repository is an IMDEA Nanociencia project supported by the Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence distinction, awarded to IMDEA Nanoscience in 2017, and the María de Guzmán competitive call from FECYT.
