Madrid, 1st March 2023

On the afternoon of 10th February 2023, during her visit to the European X-ray Free Electron Laser (EuXFEL) in Hamburg - Germany, Nobel Laureate Prof Donna Strickland met with Dr Cristian Svetina (IMDEA Nanociencia), Prof Wojciech Gawelda (UAM/IMDEA Nanociencia), alongside other team members, beamline scientists, and representatives of the EuXFEL management board.

Dr Svetina recently joined IMDEA Nanociencia as the Principal Investigator of a novel experimental method called X-ray Transient Grating spectroscopy and is the main proposer of a prestigious long-term proposal at EuXFEL. During her visit Prof Strickland, one of the recipients of the Nobel Prize in Physics 2018 for developing chirped pulse amplification, inquired about the methodologies and potential applications in science and society as well as in the experimental setup used by the IMDEA Nano team.
