Organic nanoporous networks grown on (111) noble metal surfaces confine surface state electrons inside the existing pores generating 2D “quantum dot arrays”.  Changing the geometry and building units we engineer the electronic confinement and determine the potential landscape of these systems, as determined by STM, ARPES and model calculations. Our results are key to understand scattering electron phenomena at surfaces.
